Good, Good Father!

Updated: Jun 17, 2024

As we celebrate Father's Day, I want to honor you fathers by saying Happy Father's Day! For every sacrifice, every self-less act, and every moment you deposited the value of positive life lessons into your children, I honor you. It's not easy being a parent. As with mothers, fathers bear a great responsibility because they are instruments that are needed in the lives of every child. I understand that circumstances vary in every household, some have present fathers while others may not. This by no means negate the importance or the benefit of having an active and present father in your life. No matter how old we grow to be, we yet long for the example of a father.

Considering this we should all rejoice in the fact that despite our natural circumstances we are NOT fatherless children. Romans 8:14-16 says...

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God".

Because of the spirit of adoption, we can all declare that we are children of God and because we are led by His spirit, we are His sons/daughters. In receiving Him, His spirit joined with our spirit and made us a part of His family. We need not doubt who or whose we are. As with your natural father, God will love you, cover you, protect and provide for you. He provides guidance, direction, correction, and instruction. The bible declares that if a natural man knows how to give good gifts to his children, how much more does our Heavenly Father give good gifts to them that ask? He is a good Father.

On this Father’s Day, take the time to thank your father (natural, spiritual, and heavenly) for all he has done, for all he has sacrificed and for all he has placed in your hands. It's easy to focus on what we do not have, but today I encourage you to focus on what you do have which is the Lord our God and He is a good, good father!
